Colonel Steve & Marshon Kempf – Owners
MDSC is owned by Marshon and her husband, Steve Kempf. Marshon was a registered nurse for many years, and is the majority owner and President of Mountain Dog sign company. Steve is a retired Air Force F-16 pilot with over 27 years of military service, including combat service in both Gulf Wars. Steve flies 737’s for Alaska Airlines. In their down time, the Kempfs enjoy skiing, being on the water, time with their two college-age daughters, and spending time at the family ranch in Oroville.
Jason – Client Management
Jason has been in the sign industry since 1997. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis in Design from New Mexico State University. Taking difficult projects and seeing them through to successful completion are what Jason enjoys most about working in the field. He prides himself on always keeping current with the fast-changing technology in the sign industry. A resident of the Inland Northwest since 1998, Jason enjoys golf, hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his wife and two school-age children.
Aaron – Production Manager
Aaron has close to a decade of experience in the large format printing industry, and adds a great deal to the Mountain Dog team. When asked what he loves most about working for Mountain Dog, he replied by saying that, “Everyday is something new and we are never stuck doing the same thing day in and day out.” He also loves being able to see Mountain Dog Signage in the community everyday. In his off time, Aaron enjoys biking, camping, hiking, shooting and fishing.

Hannah – Graphic Design
Hannah graduated with a B.A. in Graphic Design from Whitworth University. She has the true gift for design. Her ability to flush out abstract ideas and create beautiful custom signage is inspiring! Her favorite things about working at Mountain Dog are the versatility of the design projects and how fun the MDSC team is to work with. In her free time, you can find Hannah spending time with friends, hiking, going to stand-up comedy shows, and petting all of the dogs.

Leo – Production
Leo attended North Central High School, and took the PC Specialist program at Spokane Falls Community College. Leo has 11 years of construction experience and over 5 years in a manufacturing setting. With over 2 years in CAD (Computer Aided Drafting/Drawing) and 20+ Years in Graphic Design, Leo brings some great experience to the Mountain Dog Team! Leo is an aspiring musician and rehearses with his band two days every week. He enjoys camping, going to concerts, and date nights.
Dustin brings the energy to our production team. His sharp enthusiasm for creating amazing custom signage shows – as does his almost 20 years of experience. Dustin always has a smile on his face and a can do attitude. Master of the machines Dustin can do it all. Fun fact, prior to entering the sign industry Dustin was a professional motocross rider! When he’s not working you can find him fishing with his son and spending time with his lovely wife.
Jack Frost – Mascot
Jack is our 5 year old purebred Bernese Mountain Dog and follows in the footsteps of his predecessor and Mountain Dog Sign Company icon, Ella. Jack is a svelte 125 lbs, and has a personality to match his size. He comes to work everyday, and loves to go visit clients. His favorite things are 1)Mom (Marshon), and 2) food, although the order changes for a short time when anything remotely edible is in his presence.
Ella was our purebred Bernese Mountain Dog and the original “Mountain Dog.” She was the inspiration for the company name, and our logo was based on a photo of Ella. She was born in Des Moines, IA, and was a part of the family for 10 ½ years. She lived all over the world with us, including Colorado Springs, CO, Washington DC, South Korea and Washington state. She was a calm, friendly girl that always barked a welcome when someone came to visit. She loved taking walks around Liberty Lake, and running at the family ranch.
